To find the correct girth length for your horse, start by saddling your horse with your usual saddle and saddle pad. Then, measure the distance between the lower edge of one billet strap to the lower edge of the billet on the opposite side, following the contour of the horse’s barrel, this gives you your approximate girth measurement.
For the Equi-Soft® girth, it’s important that the girth buckles rest approximately one hand-width above the horse’s elbow when fastened. This helps maintain comfort and freedom of movement, especially given the girth’s unique elastic ring system.
The girth length of both the Equi-Soft® and our other girths is measured from buckle end to buckle end.
Tip: Always girth up evenly on both sides and avoid over-tightening. For short girths (used with long billets), typical sizes range from 40 cm to 85 cm; for long girths, from 100 cm to 150 cm (measured in increments of 5 cm).
If you're unsure, we recommend consulting your saddle fitter or contacting us directly with your horse’s measurements, we’re happy to help you find the perfect fit.
