Your new saddle, much like a good pair of shoes, requires a certain "breaking-in" period. Here are a few things to keep in mind during the initial use:
- Stiffer materials: The seat, knee rolls, and panels may feel firmer compared to a test saddle. However, the material will soften after just a few rides and adapt to your needs.
- Saddle sitting higher: The saddle may initially sit a bit higher. This is because the wool in the panels needs time to settle, which usually takes about 20 riding hours. After this, we recommend a free first check-up by our fitters.
- Slight color differences: Leather is a natural product, and variations in color are normal. Over time, the leather will develop an individual patina, influenced by care and usage.
Care instructions:
There’s no need to waterproof your new saddle before the first ride. For maintenance, we recommend using our Hamanol leather conditioner and glycerin saddle soap to keep the leather supple and protected.
