What is the best way to care for leather?

In order for leather to retain its many good characteristics and for us to enjoy our leather products for a long time, the right care is indispensable.

In cooperation with tanneries, we have developed the Stübben Care care series for this purpose. It consists of Glycerin Saddle Soap, the liquid and therefore easy-to-use, pH-neutral saddle soap, and Hamanol Leather Care, our patented wax emulsion. This nourishes the leather without attacking its fiber structure.

Basically, we recommend cleaning and caring for saddles at least once a month, depending on the amount of use. However, depending on soiling/use, it is recommended to care more frequently.

Products such as snaffles or breastplates, which come into contact with sweat and dirt particularly often, should be cleaned more frequently.

Leather care in 2 steps:

Step 1: Apply saddle soap

Using a damp sponge or cloth, apply the saddle soap (glycerine saddle soap or liquid saddle soap) to the entire saddle. Attention should also be paid to the underside of the saddle, as the leather is usually in contact with the horse's sweat here.

Step 2: Apply saddle care

Hamanol leather care is best applied with a damp cloth. It is applied in a thin layer to the entire saddle (including the underside) and is absorbed into the leather. Possible residues can then be re-polished or wiped off with a cloth.
