Our saddle tree is the heart of every Stübben saddle and offers functionality like no other. The combination of protection of the withers, shock-absorbing function and flexibility in the seat, seating comfort and durability, is only available from Stübben.
Of course, the chamber width can also be adjusted.
Stability in the gullet:We have not just one gullet plate, but two built into our tree. Why? Because the well-being of the horse is paramount. It is essential that the horse's withers are protected. This is especially important in show jumping, where high pressure is sometimes generated during the landing. For this purpose, we have cranked the lower gullet made of hardened stainless steel. This means that the steel has been folded and is therefore even more robust. Despite all this, it is possible with our special machine to adjust the place points, i.e. the ends of the gullet plate - even subsequently, should the horse have changed or the saddle need to be adapted to a different horse.
Flexibility in the seat:
A major role in the flexibility of our tree is played by the girthing in conjunction with the steel springs on the underside. This is where the entire seat surface is put under tension. This is why it is also called a pre-tensioned steel spring tree. This provides considerable relief for the horse, as the rider's weight is cushioned when sitting in and the pressure is distributed evenly over the entire surface. This is only possible due to the flexibility in our tree. At the same time, this offers the rider the possibility to influence the horse's back individually - with rigid trees (e.g. plastic, carbon) this influence is very limited. Physiotherapists not infrequently recommend Stübben saddles because of this shock-absorbing effect.
The camber spring:The stainless brass camber springs embedded in the tree are another important component and are built into every one of our saddle trees. The camber springs are shaped so that the stirrup leathers do not interfere with the contact between horse and rider. In the event of a fall, the camber spring will release and the stirrup leathers can come off the saddle.
Seat Feel:
To make the seat feel as comfortable as possible for the rider, we use different foams. This so-called mattressing is individually ground. You decide how soft and comfortable you want the seat to be.

Biomex: with the patented Biomex seat technology, we offer a technical solution that enables healthy, back-relieving sitting and riding. Biomex prevents or reduces back pain.
Basically, the softer the seat, the more the leather is stressed and the risk of slight cavities in the seat increases. With proper care using saddle soap and Hamanol, the leather remains supple and grain breakage is prevented.
